Choosing a Wedding Photographer
After we got engaged, and started really sitting down and thinking about the day we wanted, I knew that we wanted a top-notch photographer. Photography is something that is really important to me, and I wanted someone who would be someone we clicked with right from the very beginning.
First, I wanted someone who could produce beautiful photos that I really felt fantastic about. I immediately got sticker shock (a running theme throughout our wedding planning, as you’ll soon see), but it was still really important to find someone who fit my vision. I turned to Instagram. I started following the MinnesotaWeddingPhotographer hashtag and bookmarking any pictures that matched my vision. Then, after a few weeks, I went through to see if there were any photographers who showed up more than once.
That’s how I found Caitlin. Her aesthetics were exactly what I was looking for. To be fair, there were three other photographers that I felt the same about. I reached out to all four for quotes…and three were out of my budget! But not Caitlin! Her packages were within our budget.
We set up a phone call to talk details, and this was when I knew that she was for us. Our personalities just clicked and I was excited to have her on board. We booked our engagement shoot, and I confirmed her for the wedding that day.
A few months later, we were able to meet up for our engagement shoot. Charles had never had formal photos like that done, so we both went in a little nervous. But we had FUN. All of our photos show that. I’m so happy that she is going to be there as part of our day. The only thing I wish is that everyone feels the same way about their photographers.

Set up a real, talking phone call, or a face-to-face meeting.
Do an engagement shoot to test them out!
