Sweet Treats | Boxycharm March 2016

You clicked on the title, so you know what’s up. It’s Boxycharm time. Boxycharm, for those of you who are not familiar, is the hands down best beauty subscription for any of your beauty needs. If you’re looking for a beauty surprise each month, this is the place to get it.

So, usually I am immensely impressed with the box, but this time it was very solidly in the hit-and-miss category.

You can see my unboxing below, or continue scrolling to read on!

In this box, there are some good things happening. Things to get excited about. But there are things that I didn’t like.

Good stuff:

Makeup Geek Shimmer Shadow in Cosmopolitan - $6

In this month’s box, my biggest excitement was about this Makeup Geek eye shadow. I have been waffling on whether I should order them or not. Like so many things these days, they have to be ordered online, and I hate buying makeup online. What if its awful, or comes broken? I received the shade Cosmopolitan, which is a gorgeous rose gold eyeshadow with fine shimmer. I am already in love with it, and the formulation is great. Definitely worth picking up some more.

Makeup Geek Matte Shadow in Cupcake - $6

But one eye shadow is not enough! I also received Cupcake, a matte rosy pink. I don’t have anything like it in my collection, and again, the formula makes it totally worth picking up.

Chella Eyebrow Pencil in Taupe - $18

I’m not super big into my brows (Gasp). I know, that’s a terrible thing for a beauty blogger to admit. But I do fill them in a little bit. I’m not talking the Instagram-brow, but my brows are noticeably lighter than my hair, so I darken them a little. I was worried that this might be a too dark. It’s really dark when you first look at it, but it looks great when I ave it on. Totally natural. Another win.

Luxie Beauty 512 Small Contour Brush - $16

Like all of my Luxie brushes, this one is of fantastic quality. Sturdy handle and soft bristles. Like the name says, I’ve been using this to blend out my contour. It fits really well right into the hollows of my cheeks and around my nose, helping me put off looking at the Nars Ita brush for another day.

The Not Good:

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris Perfume - $20

This smells like a dying old lady. It’s also super strong. When I wear it, I get a terrile headache and my dog won’t come near me. It’s nice that it’s a good size, it’s not nice that the only thing this is good for is the trash.

Clark's Botanicals Anti-Puff Eye Cream - $87 (!)

What. The. Word-that-starts-with-F. $87? No. This cream smells awful and burns. I believe they call it a “light tingling” to help combat puffiness. Unfortuantely, this isn’t a light tingling. It’s painful. Just like the perfume, this one is suited best for the trashcan. I hate that it brought the value of this box up so high when it’s a total miss for me.

The total value of this box $133, but the value of the items I would consider to be good is $46, so much lower. Overall, I still think that it’s a good box, but it’s not the best I’ve gotten from them. If you'd like your own box, click here to subscribe. It's $21 a month well spent!
