BarkBox #2: April 2015
It’s our second month of BarkBox, which Biscuit loved last month.
For those of you who aren’t familiar, BarkBox is the subscription box for your
dog.. It costs around the $25 mark, and shipping isn’t free. You get to try out
some new fun treats and toys for your dog that you may not have otherwise
picked up.
Biscuit gets the medium sized box, but there are smaller boxes, as
well as larger ones.
To be honest, this month was not as good as last month. Only four
items this month, instead of five, and the quality wasn’t quite there. So what
did my delightful dog get? Let’s check it out.
This month’s box was Spring Break themed, but the items were kind
of all over the place.
Yeti Corporation Medium Yak Chew
A taste of the Himalayas! This all-natural dog chew is made from
yak and cow milk and is incredibly long-lasting and tasty alternative to
rawhide.
$9
We got something similar last month that Biscuit wasn’t a huge fan
of, so I wasn’t too pleased to see this come again. She has been chewing away
on it, but it hasn’t been one of her favorites. Total pass on this.
SoJo’s Simply Lamb
Gently freeze-dried to lock in the natural enzymes, vitamins and
minerals, these Simply Lamb treats from Sojo’s are simply delicious.
$10
These are really what it says on the package. It’s just meat.
Gross, dried meat. It’s freeze-dried, so it’s not like jerky, but a more
interesting texture. I think they’re just nasty, but of course, the dog loves
them. We’ve been going to a second round of obedience school and these have
been great for getting her to behave there.
BarkMade Flowers Bouquet
Doesn’t your pup deserve to elebrate spring with their very own
bouquet? A BarkMade bouquet for the special pup in your life! And with multiple
flowers, there’s plenty to share.
$14
Biscuit loved these. I’m not quite sure why. It’s so strange. The
problem is that these are not durable. She’s already torn apart two of the four
flowers to the point that we’ve had to throw them away. The toys last month
were very durable, but this month that’s just not so. The little newspaper velcro thing that holds the flowers together is also totally useless and just has to be thrown away. I can't let the dog chew on it, so it's really just there for my benefit.
Petprojekt Squeaki Tiki
Irresistably squeaky. Gentle yet durable. And like all petprojekt
toys, BPA free, cadmium free, and lead free! .
$8
This was another toy that Biscuit loved. Unfortuantely, it is also
not too durable. We’ve had to fix the squeaky part twice, but she still loves
fetching it around. It’s surprisingly squeaky, like if you shake it, it
squeaks. It’s obnoxious, but great.
So, the total value of our Barkbox this month was $41, which was
more than last month, but the stuff was less good. Biscuit is still using all
of the things, but I’m just not impressed. Last month was great though, so we’ll
hang on another month.
