Out with the Old, In with the New

Well friends, it’s that time again. It’s the new year. Congratulations on making it to 2015. It's been a big year for me. I graduated, made a permanent move, got into grad school, and generally feel like I got my life together. But it's always a good thing to try and do even better next year.

How did I do on my resolutions from last year?

1. Read 52 books.
Accomplished, at the 11th hour. Good job, me!

2. Eat less meat.
I did really well until September, when  a combination of stress and work troubles caused me to fall off the wagon. I would count this as a success because it's less compared to last year, but there is still room for improvement.

3. Practice a language every day.
Solid fail. 3 days a week was my average.

4. Walk or run at least three days a week.
I really failed at this one after about October when it started getting cold.

5. Stop letting my dishes add up.
Success, but mostly because I stopped having to do my dishes after

6. No more napping.
I established a healthy sleep routine, which was the goal, but still took naps. So fail.

7. Schedule unplugged time.
Success.

8. Make my bed every day.
Fail. Total and complete fail.

9. Try a new food every month.
Success. It was a year of adventure. New restaurants, new foods.

10. Blog twice a week.
Success! I didn't think that I had gotten this one, but it worked out to more than 2 blog posts per week.

Okay. New resolutions for 2015. Only a few this time. Ten seemed like too many.

1. Blog twice a week
I've started my blog plan for 2015, but it never hurts to get the commitment in writing.

2. Video twice a month.
Some things just work better as videos, so I'm going to try and make a better attempt at it. I'd also like to do some more things with my gopro and some follow-me-arounds.

3. Get back to my pre-college weight (the freshman 15 is a real thing).
I don't have problems with the way I look, but I'd like to be a little bit more healthy. This seems like an attainable goal.

4. Do more adventuring year round.
I did a great job exploring my state in the warmer months, but once the weather turned cold it stopped being a priority. I am going to do better at getting out of town even in the snow.

5. Finish the blog redesign. Completed!
I've been talking about doing this forever. It needs to happen now. I'm not happy with how things look and want it changed.

6. Take more photos.
Enough said.

7. No soda all year.
This is going to be the hardest one. My Diet Coke problem is getting out of control, so it's time to get that under control. Zero soda this year, with exceptions being made for ginger ale when I'm sick. That's it.

Wish me luck!
