Products I've Used Up

Over the past few weeks, I used up a lot of things in rapid succession and figured I’d jump on the “Used Up Stuff” bandwagon. It’s going to be a long post, so hold on to your hats.

Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Boosting Mousse
I’ve got some crazy curly hair. I know that you guys don’t get to see it very often, but it needs a whole array of products to keep it in check. This is my favourite mousse that I’ve found yet. It keeps everything in place and emphasises my curls without making them look crunchy or permanently wet.
Repurchase? Sure would.

Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Mousse
I use the Dove Style+Care Dry Shampoo and love it, so I thought this would also be great. Wrong. I hate this. I do a little bit of work in a military setting and it tends to be a slicked back environment for my hair, and that was the only place that I could use this. It left my hair looking greasy and disgusting. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. I tried using a tiny bit; I tried it when my hair was sopping wet, and when it was nearly dry. It doesn’t matter. It’s so unpleasant.
Repurchase? Holy crap no.

St. Ives Exfoliating Apricot Gentle Exfoliating Body Wash
This stuff is just okay. I bought it on sale ages ago. It did the job. I don’t think it was particularly wonderful, but it served its purpose.
Repurchase? Probably not.

Eves St Claire Soft Healthy Skin Facial Scrub
This stuff was good, but not for my face. It’s really abrasive, so I found it to be a little too much to use on my head. It did wonders exfoliating the rest of my body though, especially my knees. I have dry knees.
Repurchase? Probably not.

Herbal Essences Honey I’m Strong Shampoo and Conditioner
I’ve already repurchased this. The first go around, they were on offer, where it was only $2 for both if you got the shampoo and matching conditioner. I like it a whole lot. I’m usually a little bit snobby when it comes to my shampoos, but this stuff is great. MY hair feels noticeably stronger and smoother when I use this. Even when it’s not on sale it’s not a bank-breaker, so I don’t know how you can miss with this!
Repurchase? Already have!

Caudalie Crushed Cabernet Scrub
I was not sure how I felt about this. It was really exfoliating and felt nice on the skin, but it smelled like wine, and it made me smell like wine. I don’t want to smell like an alcoholic. It also smelled up the whole bathroom so my roommates were also treated to its smell. Grand.
Repurchase? No.

Tresemme Split Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner
I had two each of these little guys, and I found that it really weighed down my hair. I think that if you used this every day, you would need a clarifying shampoo at the end of the week for sure. My hair looked really shiny though!
Repurchase? No.

Coola Cucumber Mineral Face Sunblock
I had run out of my normal sunblock and used this for about a week in the interim. It baffles me. It comes out as a liquid, but feels like a powder, and sets matte. It feels amazing on the skin and says that it’s chemical free. I think I might be adding this to the collection soon.
Repurchase? Yes!

Lush Fresh Face Masks in Love Lettuce and Oatifix
The weather has been taking a toll on my skin, so I thought I’d indulge a little. I usually get a face mask every month or two, and these were the last couple that I had! Love them both, although I liked the smell of Oatifix more. They were both really soothing on my dry skin and got rid of the flakies.
Repurchase? Yes!

Lush Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly
I bought this because it baffled me. It’s a gelatinous shower gel. In the beginning I really liked this, but when it started to break apart it got really unpleasant. The only way I could use it towards the bottom was to jam my loofah into it to pick up some of the fragments. I’ll be sticking to liquid body wash from now on. It also had a really strong smell, which while it was nice, lingered for a long time on my skin. Like until my next shower. I don’t think I like that.
Repurchase? No.

Covergirl Smoothers Concealer in Illuminator
This really went through the ringer with all my travelling lately. It covered up my dark circles really well, and wasn’t cakey, but it didn’t last very long. I’ve found better concealers since I got this.
Repurchase? No.

Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest Black
This is one of the world’s bestselling mascaras, so I had to try it. I could take it or leave it though. I had just average results with it. Mascara is one of my favourite things, so I have tried a fair few, and this is not on my must-have last.
Repurchase? No.

Whew. That’s all of it. Did you guys use anything up lately? I find I run out of things all at the same time. It makes for an inconvenient shopping trip the next time I’m out.
