Books, voting, and sleepiness
Sometimes I lose track of the days. Like where did my weeks
go?
School has really been abusing me the past few weeks. I
spend a lot of time trying to minimise the amount of stress that it’s causing
me, but that’s not really helping me a whole ton. There’s just a lot to do, so
sorry if you won’t be hearing much from me. I’m trying to do at least a couple
posts a week, just to get something out there, but at this point there are no
promises. I have two projects due next week, as well as exams about to dump on
me all at once. *Sigh* Oh the glories of higher education.
Last week, for Halloween, I read the Complete Works of Edgar
Allen Poe. I hate to be that person, but I just don’t enjoy poetry. I’m
very persnickety about it. It has to rhyme, and it can’t be pretentious. I know
that’s a tall order, and somewhat subjective, but that’s how I feel. I don’t
like it when anything (or anyone) takes themselves too seriously, and I feel
like a lot of poetry does that. Including Poe. The thing that I really can’t
stand is that as soon as something is labelled a classic, it is automatically
considered infallibly wonderful, and that is simply not the case. I don’t know
about you, but I think that’s rather silly. Just because something is old
doesn’t make it awesome.
I don’t have much else to say. I’m tired a lot. I’ve been
sick on and off. I have a paper due, ironically, on the effects of stress on
your health. In terms of outside school, I’m still working, although I’m down
to about five hours per week, soon to be even less as exams close in. I still
love my job though!
On kind of a final note, before I go to sleep, the election is
today. As of right now, if you’re on the west coast, you can still vote. I
voted! You should too. It’s important to do this. I could spend hours telling
you why, but you should know by now that voting is important. GO DO IT. The
results should be up tomorrow.
Goodnight!
