Glossybox Advent Calendar | Part II
In case you missed it, I’m bringing all the spoilers for the Glossybox 2020 Advent Calendar. This is Part 2, and if you missed Part 1, you can find it here!
Glossybox has a beautiful glossy packaging with a marble swirl in pink and rose gold foiling. It looks expensive. It feels expensive, with thick cardstock and a magnetic closure showing off four drawers of goodies. But while it looks expensive, it’s not a bank breaker. It retails for $99 ($89 for current subscribers), and has a total retail value of over $550. That’s insane. Hard to argue with that!
If you’re interested in picking one up, I know it can be nice to have a few spoilers. I’ll be breaking down the spoilers in four chunks, otherwise, it will be the world’s longest blog post! So today we’ll go for days 7-12. If you’re not here for those kinds of spoilers, the basics are that this box contains 25 separate beauty treats (14 full-size and 11 minis) from brands including Wander Beauty, Nails inc, Tarte, Rodial, and Iconic London.
So let’s review!
Days 7-12
The first item we’ll cover in this chunk is a Glossybox exclusive from their range. The Glossybox Skincare 3-in-1 Moisturizer (full size, $28) certainly works. It plumps, primes, and protects, just like it says. The main issue I have with this is that the price for only about 40mL of product is a lot. It puts this product into the same tier as higher-end skincare brands, and I think you can do better for that price.
The second item (Day 8) is actually something that I was planning on buying myself! The Daily Concepts Exfoliating Body Scrubber ($5) is for buffing away dead skin and dirt. I get scaly in the winter. It’s just a fact. I’ve been loving a good physical exfoliation session, and this isn’t too rough to use every day. Definitely a fan.
I love trying a new haircare product, and the Lee Stafford Hair Apology Intensive Care 10-in-1 Leave-In Treatment Spray (full size, $21) doesn’t disappoint. It leaves my hair smooth, detangled, and easy to blow dry. It leaves my hair extremely soft and easy to style, which I love. What I don’t love? This smells terrible. The smell didn’t linger, but I didn’t like it, so I probably won’t repurchase once this is gone.
Day 10 was a twofer! Both from Freeman beauty, this box has the Lovely Neck Mask and the Moisturising Rose Gummy Bear Mask ($3.99 each). Neck masks? Gimmicky, in my opinion. I used this while in the bath one night and thought it was fun, but certainly not a necessary part of my routine. I really liked the gummy bear face mask. It smells sweet and fruity and my skin was soft and smooth after I used it. I would get it again, especially at that price point.
The StyleDry Turban Shower Cap ($26) was my biggest disappointment in the calendar so far. I love a shower cap. I only wash my hair about twice a week, so I use them. This shower cap is the highest quality I’ve ever had. It’s a thick and soft material, and it feels wonderful. And it’s tiny. I don’t have a big old pumpkin head but I still can’t fit all of my hair inside of it at once, completely defeating the purpose. This might be great if you have a small head, or to give to a younger person, but certainly not for me.
Last one for this time! The Avant Skincare 3-1 Hyaluron-Filler Collagen Eye Formula (full size, $125) is so impressive. I have no idea where I’m going to find an extra $125 to repurchase it, but this seriously has given me an eye lift after using it for a couple of weeks. My eye area is noticeably firmer and more moisturized and I love the results I’m seeing. But that price! You’re getting a great deal by getting it in this box.
That’s it for now! The total value for these products is $212.98, and we can add that to our running total from part 1…so so far, I’ve opened up $308.44 in value. You can shop these things below, and I’ll be back in a few days with part 3!
