Drugstore Lip Loves

I love high-end lipstick. Something about the vanilla smell and slide of a new, luxury lipstick is a kind of indulgence that I’ll always love. But, as the cost of makeup gets higher, it’s sometimes a hard pill to swallow to for out that $20+ for a lipstick every time.

Target. Target is a magical wonder zone where the drugstore meets luxury. I can find great things, that I love, at a fraction of the price. Let’s take a nice wander down the beauty aisle and talk about the little wonders II found there to help keep my lips in tip-top shape. he windchill is predicted to be -40 tomorrow, but I refuse to let my makeup pay for that. The best part…I spent $7 total on all of these together. You can pick up your own Target Beauty Lip Set here.

Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Lip Mask

I’m always a little wishy-washy about Burt’s Bees. It’s that thing where they remind me of high school, and everything about my beauty routine during that time fills me with a deep level of cringe now. This retails for $2.99, which is about on par with other single-use lip masks. I liked this one. It worked best as a follow-up to a more intense scrub. I used this after I had worn a particularly drying liquid lipstick, and needed the moisture after.

St. Ives Passionfruit Lip Scrub

I am a regular user of lip scrubs. I get the worst dryness during the winter, made worse by a nasty bout of flu that I’m getting over just now. I like the chunky sugar-based ones because they exfoliate like no other and then I can put pretty much anything on top. This one is nice because the sugar is extremely fine, it almost looks like a normal balm. This is great right before a lip mask, or when I’m taking everything off at night. This little tub retails for $4.99.

Dr. Bronner Lip Balm

I will be honest, I immediately passed this one on to the hubs. I like lip balms, but this one is too strongly minty for me. This retails for $3.49. It’s a nice lip balm, I’m just sensitive to smells and tastes. If you like that strongly minty flavor, this is great.

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Plumping Gloss

The name kind of says it all. Soap & Glory is a brand that I’m a big supporter of and that I have loved for a long time. Charles and I both use a lot of their skincare and have been happy, but I don’t often use their color cosmetics. This is a nice color. It’s a very natural glossy lip color. I don’t see much plumping, but I do like it and it looks great over a lipstick. This retails for $2.99 in the mini size and $8.99 for the full size.

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer in Peony

I love this for a quick gloss over my lips when I’m not planning on wearing any lipstick that day. The light light pink color only shows up as a wash of shimmer on my lips and evens out skin tone. At the end of the day, this will find a place at the bottom of my purse and live there for mornings that I’m running out of the door. This one retails for $3.49.

Milani Bold Color Statement Matte Lipstick

Last one! Milani makes some of my favorite blushes, but I’ve found their other offerings to be a little hit and miss at times. I like this lipstick. It doesn’t dry down to a true matte though, so if that’s what you’re wanting, I wouldn’t go for it. I like this. It’s a warm burgundy that looks very flattering for me. It looks even better with that Mother Pucker gloss on top. Highly recommend! Retails for $7.99.
