Treat Yo'self: Lush

Now that I am safely attached to a major city, it is time for the ceremonial trip to Lush. Having been deprived of cruelty-free, fantastically luxurious bath products. I’ll be the first to say that Lush’s beauty line hasn’t really impressed me, but their bath…they make such beautiful things.
Now, this is a budget summer, so this wasn’t a crazy splurge, but I thought it would be nice to get a couple of things to have in case I needed to unwind after a long day.

I did indeed pick up two awesome things that I loooove, but hadn’t tried before.

Blue Skies and White Fluffy Clouds Bubble Bar

Something that’s nice about my summer apartment is that I have a pretty nice bathtub. My bathroom isn’t anything special, but the tub is leaps and bounds from what I’m used to. I decided that the day would come when I needed a bubble bath. That day came after eight hours of walking around outside on a hot, hot day. Minnesota is super humid, and that’s something that I’m not used to, so I feel like the heat is just hotter, even if I’m already used to 90 or 100 degree summers.

Blue Skies and White Fluffy Clouds, like everything in any Lush store, has a very distinctive scent. Blue Skies is designed to help you feel more peaceful in your life, making it perfect for that evening after a hard day. It has what I would call an exotic, herbal scent. It has a strong franicense smell, and if you’re not sure what that is, t comes across as just generally woody herbal smell. It also has a very earthy patchouli backbone that grounds it into a more gentle scent. Describing scents is hard, so if that didn’t make any sense, it’s not too strong of a scent, so it’s still worth a try. It’s also a pretty, swirly light blue, so it’s nice to look at.

This is also one of Lush’s more cost-effective products. It’s quite large. This bubble bar is definitely enough for two baths, and could be used for three or four if you like a little less bubble in your bath. It makes a lot of bubbles, so I’m perfectly happing using about a third of the bar each time for myself.

Golden Handshake

If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you know I like to take care of my hands. I wear a lot of hand lotion, but even so, it’s hard for my hands to stay pristine. Golden Handshake is a hot oil mask for your hands. It comes on a stick, conveniently, so it gets added to a little bit of boiling water, and then you let your hands sit in it. If that’s not your jam, the sales associate told me that you can melt it and massage it in to your hands, then rinse when you’re done.

I like this, with one caveat. It does leave my hands dreamy-creamy soft, but it has this thin layer of gold glitter on top. This ends up forming a glitter-film on my hands. I love the way my hands feel, but I don’t like looking like I shook down a leprechaun. This is an issue I’ve had with other Lush products, so you’d think I’d have learned my lesson, but nope.

That’s all for today! Let me know what your favorite Lush products are (new or old!) and I’ll try some!
