Buxom Blackest Lash Mascara

In my perpetual quest to find the best mascara for oily eyelids, I came across the Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black. I had used a tester of this some months ago, and had received a voucher for a full-sized one that I finally cashed in.

I love the sleek black packaging with the Buxom logo, and it comes in a shiny box with the same logo and a little information. It looks expensive from a distance, but the feel of the packaging is quite cheap plastic.

The formula of this mascara has vitamins and antioxidants to help make your lashes healthier and look like falsies. Well. It’s not going to make it look like you have falsies. At least, not in my experience. I posted the before and after here:

Before!
After!
This mascara does provide both length and volume, so if you’re looking for a does-it-all, then I think this is a good bet, but I didn’t get that great falsie look. I would also probably refrain from wearing this on my bottom eyelashes. I do, but only for short periods of time. I have very oily lids, and it’s going to slide right off if I’m not careful. I don’t mind in on the top, but on the bottom, I’m just asking for raccoon eyes. The packaging says that 96% of women agreed that it didn’t smudge or slip…so maybe I’m just that unlucky four percent.

The brush on this is fairly large, with a mix of long and short bristles. I think that this is one of my favorite wands all around, so I would be interested in trying it with another formula. It’s plastic, so if you’re more of a spoolie-girl, then this might not be for you. I love it though. It’s also not so sharp if you poke yourself in the eye…not that I’ve done that…of course.

So, all told, if you have a drier eyelid, and like a drier formula, try this one out. It’s not waterproof, so if that’s a must, I would walk on. I think that the pictures speak for themselves. I’m a firm believer in the drugstore mascara, and haven’t found a high end one that I can honestly say beats them all. Any suggestions?
