Blogmas #11: Nails Inc Special Effects Collection

I was doing some Christmas shopping this weekend in at the local Sephora, and I got to talking with the sales girl. Her name was Anne and she was so nice. She really helped me pick out the perfect gifts for a people on my list. As she was walking me up to the counter, she mentioned that they had this nail set. It was the last one they had in stock and the packaging was damaged. She then talked to her manager and let me have it for $5, down from $18.50. I feel really guilty buying things for me when I’m out Christmas shopping, but I really couldn't pass these by. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have paid that much for these, but $5 seemed fine.

Left to Right: Electric Lane, Marylebone, Stratford

The nail polish set in collection is the Nail Inc Special Effects Collection. It contains three polishes, Electric Lane, Marylebone, and Stratford. I’m really happy with all three.

Stratford provides a mirror metallic finish that reflects every colour you can imagine. In the light it looks pink and gold and green and is different every time you look. It's fun and unique.

Marylebone (which is pronounced like Mar-luh-bun or mar-luh-bone...says the British man in the Sephora who corrected the sales girl) is this fantastic pink metallic glitter. It takes about two coats to make it really spiffy, but one coat would be sufficient to wear over some other colour. It’s gorgeous.

The third colour is Electric Lane which is described as a holographic top coat. It’s quite sheer, but does look really nice. The glitter is so fine that for the most part it just comes off as very shiny. I can see it quickly becoming a staple of mine though. Delightful.

I love all three, and I’m excited to experiment with them over other colours.

Today’s advent calendar prize was BadGal waterproof eyeliner.

I haven’t tried this one yet. I swatched some out on my wrist and that stuff is not budging. I had to take the makeup remover to it when I wanted to get it off, which is really great. I’m excited to try this one out. The past few weeks, in between being sick and exams, I haven’t done much with eye makeup, but that will change soon enough.

Did you buy anything for yourself when you were supposed to be buying for others?
