Rainy and Ill

After a few brilliantly hot and sunny weeks, the rain has finally fallen in Halifax, just in time to finish out my summer. It’s forecasted to rain until Sunday, when my first lecture is. I wish I could say that I am spending my final days of freedom before school at the beach, or enjoying the outdoors, but I’m really not.

Tomorrow, our other roommate is moving in, so the house has to be somewhat ordered. Beth and I have both been busy, so not much has gotten done in the way of housework, unfortunately. Also, we’ve been using her room. Oops. Not that it’s a big deal; it was just an empty room where we could keep things like the ironing board and extra tubs and stuff. But it does mean that we have to move all of those things out now.

I’ve also been spending today selling last year’s textbooks, and trying to buy this year’s books used. Also good advice for back to school for university students is to not buy books new, or used from the campus bookstore. They rip you off. If you buy from other students, you’ll always get the best deal. Just be sure to see the book in person before exchanging money. And meet in a public place. Be safe!

The one real downside to this week was that Beth, who was also on vacation last week, came back home with a cold which she has shared with me. Gross. The good news is that I’ve had lots of time to blog and read and watch TV. The bad thing is that my lungs feel like they are on fire and my eyes are watering nearly constantly.  Not fun.

Oh well. This too shall pass. I’m excited for this week because I have a few great posts coming out, including my first ever favourites as well as my apparently anticipated review of the true blood season (I got an email asking if I had forgotten about it. I hadn’t, but I appreciate the reminder.).

How are you guys spending your last few days before Labor Day? Plans for the long weekend?
